【Thermoplastic】 Application of continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic prepreg in composite pipes

Reinforced thermoplastic composite pipe is a new type of plastic pipe that has been developed internationally in recent years. The main feature is that it can withstand higher working pressure and at the same time maintains the advantages of polyethylene pipe with certain flexibility, which can be made into a coil (Continuous tube) form, each plate length from tens of meters to nearly kilometers.

Continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic prepreg tape winding reinforced pipe makes full use of the strength, heat resistance and economy of glass fiber. It is the most economical pipe with the best service life in the current composite plastic pipe, making the pipe both high temperature and high pressure resistant , Wear-resistant performance, solve a series of problems such as plastic pipe ring stiffness, thermal deformation and so on.

Advantage:

High pressure resistance: 2.0MPa-25MPa at normal temperature, working pressure can reach 35MPa according to special design

High temperature resistance: can withstand high temperature and high pressure for a long time and under the extreme cold and hot (-40 -95 ) creep resistance requirements for more than 50 years

Flexibility: According to the terrain, it can bend freely within the specified radius, improve construction safety and reduce damage to the environment

The linear expansion coefficient of 13.6 * 10-6m / mk is close to that of metal pipes.

The reinforcing layer fiber is inorganic glass fiber, and its service life is much higher than that of organic materials, and no end face treatment is required.

The reinforcement layer is directly attached to the working layer to avoid inconsistencies in changes between the layers due to temperature differences, resulting in delamination.

The continuous length varies from 200 to 2000 meters, with fewer pipes and pipe joints.

No scaling and waxing, higher circulation efficiency; ultra-low friction coefficient, reducing long-distance delivery head loss.

Market opportunities:

The rising pressure of raw materials has prompted the application of pipe reinforcement technology to reduce costs in the general field of plastic pipes. The rising international oil prices have caused the rising prices of plastic raw materials, thus putting pressure on the plastic pipe industry to increase production costs. The use of prepreg-reinforced plastic pipes in the general field of plastic pipes can significantly reduce the consumption of resin than all plastic pipes, thereby reducing production costs.

Analysis of market demand:

The market that needs to use reinforced plastic pipes can be basically divided into three major areas.

1. Small-diameter high-pressure flexible pipes (5-25MPa) are used for oilfield water injection, etc. Diameter 50-150mm, coiled tube.

The small-diameter high-pressure flexible pipeline is used to replace the steel pipes and glass steel pipes currently used for water injection in oil fields.

The prepreg tape RTP pipe has good corrosion resistance and is supplied in the form of a coil, which is convenient for laying. The advantages of substitution are obvious.

2. Small diameter medium pressure flexible pipe (1.6-5MPa), diameter 100-200mm, coiled pipe.

It is used for water transportation, gas transportation, slurry transportation, engineering and municipal emergency rescue in oil fields and mines, or temporarily laid pipelines.

Small-diameter medium-pressure flexible pipes are used to replace the steel pipes and glass steel pipes currently used in oil fields and mines. Because of their good corrosion resistance and light weight, they can be supplied in coils, and are easy to connect and lay (especially in deserts, beaches and other environments).

3. Large and medium diameter pressure pipes (<1.6MPa) are used for urban and rural water pipelines. Diameter 100mm-1600mm or larger;

200mm-250mm or less is supplied in coil form;

Straight pipe supply above 200mm-250mm.

The mainstream products are all-plastic PE and PVC pipes. The development of reinforced thermoplastic pipes can reduce the consumption of plastics and reduce production costs.
